EDITORIAL TEAM:


CD (SI) – Coordinating Editor, Science: Prof. Umar Gaya

Coordinating Director, Science Infrastructure, NASENI, Professor Umar Ibrahim Gaya, was among the four best graduating B.Sc. (Hons) Chemistry students at the University of Maiduguri (1996). In 2000, Bayero University appointed Professor Umar as Graduate Assistant. He was deployed as Technical Aid Corps in The Gambia (2002-2004), by the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2004, he received M.Sc. Analytical Chemistry from Bayero University, Kano. He was a recipient of the prestigious Mc Arthur Top-up Allowance and the Kano State Scholarship Board international award for Ph.D. study. He graduated with Ph.D. Catalysis at Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2009. During his postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Chemistry, Universiti Putra Malaysia (2011), he fabricated laboratory reactors and published papers. He has published many articles in top-tier high-impact journals of Science and Technology and had written his name in the Top 25 Sciencedirect league table.


CD (EI) -- Coordinating Editor, Engineering: Engr. Dr. A. R. Agava

Director Civil and Environmental, Dr. Agava, a COREN registered Engineer is a member of many professional bodies in the realm of science and technology. He is a registered member of the following professional bodies; Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Material Society (NMS), Nigeria Metallurgical Society (NMS), Metallurgical, Mining & Materials Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. Dr. Agava is a renowned researcher in the field of engineering with special interest in the area of Minerals Equipment and infrastructural Management, Mineral Processing, Minerals Equipment designs, Mineral beneficiation, Facility Management, Environment and safety issues in Mineral processing, iron and steel making and has many journals (both local and international) to his credit. He got his Phd at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, and has Masters degree in Material and Metallurgy from the famous Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State.

Assistant Editor Production: Engr. Dr. O. A. Olasupo

Director of Manufacturing Services, NASENI, Dr. Olayode Adesola Olasupo bagged a B.Eng. and an M.Eng. degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering both from The Federal University of Technology Akure, and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Metallurgical and Materials Engineering) from the Federal University of Technology, Minna. He began his professional career as a Research and Development Officer in 1998 at Engineering Materials Development Institute (EMDI), Akure, where he rose to become a Principal Research and Development Officer before his transfer to the Agency’s headquarters in January 2008. His research focus has been in the area of Furnace and Kiln Design, Materials Design, and Nanotechnology among others. In the past five years, he has been working in the area of green synthesis of nanoparticles and nanocomposites for applications in the treatment of industrial wastewater and use as binders and detoxifiers in food and feed. He is a Registered Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), a Corporate Member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a Professional Member of the Materials Science and Technology Society of Nigeria.

Associate Editors Engineering design and fabrication I: Dr. Kaisan M. Usman

Dr. Muhammad Usman Kaisan is a Deputy Director Technical Services Department, NASENI. He was seconded from Ahmadu Bello University where he was the Deputy Director of Equipment Maintenance and Development Center as well as a Senior Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering. He is a Fellow of the African Society for Engineering Management, Financial Secretary of Nigerian Young Academy, Member of so many professional bodies and Registered with COREN. Dr. Kaisan had his Engineering training from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained B.Eng., MSc. And Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, years 2006, 2014 and 2017 respectively. 

Associate Editor Manufacturing and Production: Engr. Dr. Umar Ali Umar

Engr. Dr. Umar Ali Umar, is a Senior Lecturer in Methe chatronics Unit of Methe chanical Engineering Department, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He has PhD in Industrial Engineering, Masters in Manufacturing Systems Engineering and B. Eng. Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He teaches Manufacturing Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering courses. He developed the first hybrid metaheuristics algorithm that gives integrated dynamic jobs scheduling, Automated Guided Vehicles AGVs dispatching and conflict-free routing in Flexible Manufacturing System FMS. He has two patents, one hardware patent and one software patent all developed with industry collaboration and funded by Royal Academy of Engineering, UK. He has extensive research and industry experience in Industrial Automation, CAD/CAM, Product Design and Development and other Advanced Manufacturing Technology and Processes. He supervised several postgraduate students in Production Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering.

Associate Editor Materials Science and Engineering: Engr. Prof. Malik Abdulwahab

Engr. Professor Malik ABDULWAHAB has a combination of multifaceted experience in Metallurgical, Materials and Production Engineering; he holds a PhD degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. Currently, he is a Professor and Head of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department, Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna, Nigeria. Equally he is presently the Deputy Dean of Faculty of Air Engineering, Air Force Institute of Technology, Kaduna, Nigeria since 2020. As the Deputy Dean, he assists the Dean in the provision of academic leadership within the faculty. He also serves in various Institution’s committees. He was the Coordinator Collaboration and Research, Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. 

 

Associate Editor Conventional and Renewable Engineering: Prof. D. M. Kulla

Prof Kulla is an expert in Thermo/fluid Engineering and Energy Production (both conventional and renewable). D.M. Kulla joined the services of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, on 28th October 1996 as an Assistant Lecturer with the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He rose to the rank of Professor on 1 October 2017. He has supervised over fifty postgraduate students (Ph.D., M. Eng, and PGD). His specialization is Thermo/fluid and Energy (both conventional and renewable). He is currently the National Vice President of the Renewable and Alternative Energy Society of Nigeria (RAESON) and also the Managing Editor of the African Journal of Renewable and Alternative Energy(AJRAE); the official Journal for RAESON.

 

Associate Editors Engineering design and fabrication II:  Dr. Yahaya Muhammad Sani

Yahaya Muhammad Sani was born in 1975, and raised in Zaria, a city rich in cultural heritage and the capital of the Hausa kingdom of Zazzau in Nigeria. He received his B.Eng. Chemical Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria; the 2nd largest on the African continent (2002), two (2) MSc degrees in Biotechnology (Newcastle University, UK; 2008), and Chemical Engineering (A.B.U. Zaria; 2009) prior to obtaining a PhD (Reaction Engineering) from University of Malaya, Malaysia in 2015. He taught Physics at Demonstration Secondary School, A.B.U. Zaria where he obtained a certificate for the Re-Training of Teachers, from the Institution of Education, A.B.U. Zaria (2005) before joining A.B.U. Zaria in the same year with research interest on catalysis, renewable and sustainable energy. He is a registered Engineer certified by Council for the Regulation of Engineering, and a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. 

Associate Editor Natural and Physical Sciences: Dr. A. A Khaleed

Abubakar Abubakar Khaleed is a staff of the Department of Physics, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with experience in radiation shielding calculation; synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials for electrochemical capacitor and gas sensing applications; and nanofluid as insulating oils for oil-filled power equipment. He obtained a BSc in Physics, MSc in Radiation Biophysics, and Ph.D. Physics (with specialization in Materials Physics) from Bayero University Kano, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and the University of Pretoria, Pretoria, South Africa. Dr. Khaleed has authored many articles published in ISI indexed scientific journals and cited globally. He is a regular reviewer of many internationally reputable journals such as Scientific Report, Journal of Porous Materials, ISN Applied Sciences, etc.

Associate Editor Power and Electronics: Dr. Cosmas Ogbuka

Engr. Dr. Cosmas Uchenna OGBUKA is an Associate Professor of Power Devices in the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He holds the following degrees from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka: B.Eng. (First Class Honors), M.Eng. (Distinction) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) obtained in 2004, 2009, and 2014 respectively. He has undertaken research fellowships to: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); Chair of Electrical Drives and Actuators (EAA), University of the German Federal Armed Forces in Munich Germany; and the School of Industrial Engineering, University of Valladolid, Spain. He has also attended academic conferences and workshops in the United Kingdom, United States, Italy, and several Africa countries including Ghana, Benin, Rwanda, and Gambia. He has vast publication records in high impact peer reviewed journals in the areas of Electric Drives, Power Electronic Converters and Power Electronics Applications and Control of Electric Power Systems.
Engr. Dr. Ogbuka, a Fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (NIEEE), is the Academic Programmes Coordinator/Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer of the Africa Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Power and Energy Development (ACE-SPED), University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Associate Editor ICT: Engr. Dr. Salihu Bala

Engr. Bala Alhaji Salihu (Ph.D) had his Bachelor in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Federal University of Technology, Minna and Master in Communication Engineering from the same University, obtained his PhD from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China in Information Communication System Engineering. He began his career in the Mobile Telecommunication industry as System Engineer with Starcomms LTD and shifted to academics as an Assistance Lecturer in the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria in 2006, and later transferred to the Telecommunication Engineering department in 2010. Engr. Bala is HCIP certified and Huawei Instructor. He is currently serving as the Deputy Director of the Information Technology Service (ITS) unit for the University. ITS is the unit responsible for the maintenance of university ICT resources and infrastructure including the development of innovative solutions to facilitate administrative and academic businesses in the University.

Associate Editor Solid minerals development: Dr. Peter Okoli

Dr. Peter Chukwunonso Okoli is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry/ Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Alike, Nigeria. He is a trained Analytical/Environmental Chemist. His research is focused on analytical method development, environmental chemical processes, application of stable isotopes in environmental research, environmental nanomaterials safety and risks, and synthesis of functional materials for water treatment and analytical separation applications. Dr Okoli has published several articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has won several national and international awards, research grants and fellowships.

 

Associate Editor Medical and Life Sciences: Dr. Mohammed Auwal Ibrahim

Dr. Mohammed Auwal Ibrahim is a Biochemist based at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria with experience in Molecular Biology and drug design targeting trypanosomiasis, malaria and type 2 diabetes. His PhD was obtained from University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), South Africa followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at University of Pretoria, South Africa (2 years) and another research fellowship by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science conducted at National Institute for Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, Tsukuba, Japan for 1.5 years. So far, he authored ninety two research articles in impact scientific journals indexed by Scopus while his h-index and i-10-index are 28 and 61 respectively, according to GoogleScholar with a total citation of 2050. He serve as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Nigerian Journal of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a reviewer for more than 2 dozens high impact international journals published by Elsevier, Springer, Taylor and Francis and many other top-flight publishers. He was awarded two travel grants by the American Society for Cell Biology in collaboration with Carnegie Corporation of New York as well as competitive doctoral grants from UKZN and an Institution-based research grant from TETFUND, Nigeria. Additionally, He his also a recipient of the National Research Foundation grant by TETFUND, Nigeria. Currently, he is the President of the Nigerian Young Academy and a fellow of African Science Literacy Network and the 2018 Young Scientist Program of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Associate Editor Ecology: Prof. Tijjani Sabiu Imam

Professor Tijjani Sabiu Imam is a Professor of Environmental Biology at Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Applied Biology, M.Sc. in Parasitology, and a Ph.D. in Environmental Biology, all from the Department of Biological Sciences, Bayero University. He is also a certified Registered Nurse with rich interdisciplinary expertise spanning public health, ecological conservation, parasitology, and environmental management. Prof. Imam has taught and supervised over 150 undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, including ten Ph.D. theses. His research interests lie in Applied Ecology, Environmental Biology, Ecotoxicology, Biomedical Waste Management, and Conservation Biology. He has published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles, conference papers, and four books in related fields.

Managing Editor: Dr. Salisu Muhammed

Salisu Muhammed holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering (Computer Vision and Image Processing). He also holds a ND, HND, PGD, and Masters Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He is currently a Principal Engineer with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) where he heads the Embedded Systems sub-unit under the Automation unit. He has over 15 years deep understanding of electronics, automation, electrical and instrumentation engineering. He has worked extensively in major Electronics, Control and Robotics projects such as Logic Gate Emulator trainer, Traffic Light Control system, E-voting solution and mobile robot using microcontrollers and Programmable Logic Controllers PLC. His IT skills include fluent use of Microsoft Office/Project and other software packages such as LABVIEW, MATLAB, AUTOCAD, SOLIDWORKS, VREP. He also have a teaching and Laboratory experience on Computer Architecture, Instrumentation, Signal and Systems, Computer Networks and Circuit theory.

 

Dr. Suleiman Mustafa: Editorial Assistant, ICT

Dr. Suleiman Salihu Mustafa obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Iwate University, Japan, in 2019, supported by the Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) scholarship. He holds an MSc in Multimedia Technology (2006) and a BSc in Computer Science (2004), both from the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. He joined the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) in 2010. From 2022 to 2023, he served as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Biosciences at Durham University, United Kingdom, under the Rosetrees Trust Grant for interdisciplinary medical research. He is currently a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in the Department of Clinical Neurosciences at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, focusing on advanced medical imaging analysis through mathematics, computing, and artificial intelligence. Dr. Mustafa is a Member of the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) and the Computer Professionals (Registration Council) of Nigeria (CPN).


Dr. H. O. Bakare (Science)

Dr. Hassan. O. Bakare attended L.A School Primary School, Oke Atipa, from 1979 to 1985. After his primary education, he proceeded to Kisi Community Grammar School from 1986 to 1991, where he obtained Secondary School Leaving Certificate. He got admission to the University of Ilorin where he obtained both BSc and MSc degrees in Industrial Chemistry in 1998 and 2006, respectively. Because of his passion to be a great researcher, he proceeded to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) where he graduated with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Industrial Chemistry in 2018. He is a member of professional bodies, viz. Material Society of Nigeria (MSN) and Polymer Society of Nigeria (PSN). He has published a number of journals, viz. Case Studies in Construction Materials, International Journal of Scientific & Engineering Research, Heliyon, International Journal of Pavement Engineering, and Chemistry and materials research. Since 2008, he has been working with National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI). 

Dr Kolawole Shola: Editorial Assistant, Engineering

 obtained B.Eng. Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in the year 2008; he then proceeded to the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja and obtained an M.Sc. Degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2011. He joined NASENI in January, 2012 and has risen to become an Assistant Chief Engineer. In the year 2019, he obtained a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the African University of Science and Technology, Abuja. He is a COREN registered Engineer, a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and other professional bodies. His research interest is hinged on corrosion, fatigue and fracture of engineering structures and materials. He is an author of several publications including book chapters; conference papers; international and local journal papers.

Mr. Ahmadu Usman: Assistant Editor Marketing/Secretary

Mr. Ahmadu Usman is a Scientific Officer in the Directorate of Science, NASENI. He is an Environmental Microbiologist. His research focuses on the conversion of Tannery waste with Sawdust for Organic Manure Production. Ahmadu Usman holds a Master of Technology degree in Environmental Microbiology (2021) from the Federal University of Technology, Minna. He also holds a Bachelor of Technology Microbiology (2009) from Federal University of Technology Yola (now Modibbo Adamawa University Yola); and a Certificate in Agricultural Technology.  He has been with the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) since 2012. He is also involved in the NASENI's Greembers Project.
